more than 30 years of diverse commercial transactions experience, with a focus on real estate transactions, both in-house (including more than 17 years as senior counsel for Walgreen Co.) and with law firms. Dan combines both big-firm credibility with in-house sensibilities. His specialty is complex leasing and development matters, representing both office and industrial landlords and a wide variety of tenants (with expertise representing medical, retail, and entertainment/restaurant tenants).

Throughout his career, Dan has been involved with every class of property, including office, industrial, multi-family, medical/hospital/veterinary, entertainment, senior housing, retail, condominiums, hospitality, and vacant land. Dan is also well-versed in aspects of law and the handling of matters related to the real estate industry, including land use/zoning, construction and condemnation, and cannabis law/transactions.

Dan’s focus is making deals come together to be part of the solution. An accomplished negotiator, communicator, problem solver, and out-of-the-box thinker, Dan is adept at dispute resolution and risk identification.   • Directly responsible for a wide variety of complex commercial real estate transactions, involving the acquisition, construction, development, sale, leasing and/or ongoing management of shopping centers, high-rises, industrial/warehouses, and office buildings throughout the U.S.
  • Negotiated and managed commercial real estate transactions for a global pharmacy retail chain (involving free-standing and in-line stores, warehouses, distribution centers, offices, and on-site/specialty pharmacies throughout the U.S.), for a nationwide cannabis retailer and cultivator, and for an international baby clothes/accessory retailer.
  • Involved in negotiating the single largest (in value and size) private dormitory acquisition in U.S. history.
  • Overhauled, implemented, supervised, and managed the corporate condemnations function and the corporate processes for zoning/entitlements and land use for a pharmacy retail chain (including the procurement of zoning and licensing for the sale of alcoholic beverages and for the operation of health clinics).
  • Directed the disposition of corporate real estate assets (closed stores, undeveloped land, offices, warehouses) and coordinated and supervised multiple sale/leaseback transactions, saving hundreds of millions of dollars.
